Everything on the bench.

Plating is the heart of the shop, but not the whole of it. Colour work, protective topcoats, wearability upgrades, aesthetic mods, and lab diagnostics, one bench, one standard. Plating is priced in the estimator; add-ons are quoted on review.

01 · Plating & colour work

The colour, exactly.

Every plating job here starts with a teardown: movement, dial and hands out, bezel, case-back and crown off, the bracelet taken apart, each part plated on its own, inside and out. Most shops plate the watch assembled with the movement still in it, which covers the visible faces and little else. Why that matters →

Yellow gold18K default

14K / 18K / 24K

Yellow gold plating and tone matching over bare steel, or over the factory finish on top-tier pieces only (VSF, ARF, APS, RGF, QF, and similar). Rolex tones set against modern genuine Rolex by spectrophotometric CIELAB measurement under D65.

White metal

White Gold

A custom palladium white finish, tuned creamy to read like Rolex white gold rather than the cold blue-white of straight rhodium. Palladium also runs hard, around 400 Knoop.

Masked work

Two-tone plating

Centre links, bezels, crowns, and small parts, masked and plated individually for a clean factory-style split.

UnavailableOn hold

Rose gold plating

On hold due to supply-chain issues. Ask in your intake and we’ll notify you when it’s back.

A note on white gold plating

Strictly speaking, white gold cannot be plated: it is an alloy cast in a foundry, not a bath you dip into. Rolex casts its own; a plating shop has no foundry, so any shop offering to “plate white gold” is really depositing rhodium, palladium, or platinum, and most just do not say which. Our house white finish is a custom palladium, tuned creamy the way Rolex white gold reads, over a hard underlayer.

02 · Protective coatings & topcoats

Protection that still feels like gold.

The problem with most ceramic coatings: they leave a glassy, lacquered shine that real gold simply doesn’t have. That’s why our house topcoat is satin.

Nano-ceramicHouse topcoat

Satin / Low-Sheen Nano-Ceramic

A high-solids nano-glass ceramic layer over the gold. No gloss agents, no silicone oils, just 8H-hardness glass-ceramic particles tuned satin so the finish reads as metal, not clear-coat. Full protection, true gold feel, the coat disappears into the watch. Water beads and rolls straight off, so fingerprints and smudges never get a chance to sit. It is the hardest of the three and the closest to a genuine gold look and feel.

Nano-ceramic

High-Gloss Nano-Ceramic

A 9H SiO2 ceramic formula that fills the microscopic pits, pores, and valleys in the surface, leveling it to maximum depth and shine. For pieces meant to be noticed. Know that gloss reads as coating, not natural gold. Rated for 2+ years of protection in daily wear, and its water-fearing surface shrugs off handling oils and prints just as readily.

Polymer

Polymer Microfilm Clear Coat

A low-build polymer film, invisible on the wrist but laid thicker than ceramic and longer-wearing: flexible enough to move with the metal, resistant to yellowing, peeling and cracking, while guarding against tarnish and daily contamination.

03 · Functional wearability upgrades

Feels as good as it looks.

BraceletSignature

Silk bracelet treatment

We pressure-inject a silicone grease deep into the bracelet. The rattle and the sharpness go; the bracelet drapes like silk instead of clattering, and the watch finally feels as expensive as it looks.

Movement

Rotor oiling

Quiets rotor noise so the watch doesn’t announce itself when your wrist moves.

Case

Waterproofing service

Gasket inspection, replacement, and lubrication, then pressure testing, with video proof of your watch passing, included.

04 · Aesthetic mods & assembly

Parts swapped, cut, and built right.

Full build assemblyFrom client-supplied parts, start to finish

Client-supplied parts are inspected before work and carry no warranty on the parts themselves; any defect is reported before assembly.

05 · Diagnostic & lab services

Know what you actually have.

The same instruments that keep our plating exact, pointed at your watch. See the Lab.

Bench and lab work run in-house or through an accredited mail-in materials lab, depending on the test.

Movement

6-Position Timing Check Report

Rate, amplitude, and beat error, measured in all 6 positions on the bench.

Case

Water-resistance test

Pressure tested, with a depth-rating report for your piece.

Materials

Material identification

Full elemental composition by XRF: steel grade and alloy makeup, plus any precious-metal content, on cases and bracelets, read at an accredited lab.

Coatings

Plating verification

Coating and plating thickness by XRF, layer by layer, with the deposit’s composition and purity confirmed.
